Meet our fabric decals
Our fabric wall decals are printed on genuine PhotoTex®, a premium polyester fabric with a subtle woven texture and a soft, matte finish.
Lightweight and flexible, they sit closely against your wall for a simple, frameless look. The gentle texture adds depth to photos and artwork, while the low-sheen finish keeps glare to a minimum.
The PhotoTex difference is in the adhesive
Not all fabric decals use the same adhesive.
Some decal adhesives can harden or develop a stronger bond over time, making removal more difficult. PhotoTex’s patented adhesive is fully cured before it reaches you and is designed to remain stable, without continuing to harden or strengthen on your wall.
That means you can adjust a placement, rearrange your photo collection or move your favourite design to another suitable surface. It’s one of the main reasons we choose genuine PhotoTex for our fabric range.
When comparing decals, the material and adhesive matter just as much as the design.
Made to move with you
Our fabric decals are removable and repositionable, so your walls can change as your family, style and surroundings do.
A little care helps them stay ready for their next move:
- Handle your decals with clean hands.
- Keep the adhesive away from dust, dirt and fibres.
- Peel back slowly and gently when removing.
- Keep the original backing sheet for storage or moving home.
Reusability depends on the condition of the adhesive and the surface you apply it to. Once the backing collects dust or fibres, it may become less effective.
Choose the right surface
For the best results, apply your fabric decals to a smooth, clean, dry surface with sound, properly primed paint.
Freshly painted? Wait at least two months before applying your decals.
Wash & Wear, washable or wipe-clean paint? These finishes can reduce adhesion. Check your paint type and speak with us before ordering if you’re unsure.
Textured surfaces and paint that is loose, peeling or poorly bonded need attention before application. Removal also depends on the condition of the existing paint and its bond to the wall.

When might Viponds prep coat help?
Some painted surfaces need additional preparation before a decal will adhere well.
Viponds Self Adhesive Prep Coat is a specialist coating designed to improve adhesion for self-adhesive prints, including polyester fabric. It may be an option when an existing painted surface is unsuitable for direct application.
It isn’t a required step for every wall. If additional preparation is needed, check the appropriate product and finish with Viponds or your supplier, and follow their preparation, application and curing instructions. Loose or flaking paint must be addressed first.

Fire-rating information
PhotoTex’s manufacturer lists an ASTM E84 Class A / Class 1 fire rating for its fabric material.
This is a material test classification, not a statement that decals are fireproof. If you need decals for a commercial space or a project with specific fire requirements, contact us before ordering so the relevant material documentation can be checked against your project’s requirements.
What about our vinyl decals?
Some Wondermade products, including our vinyl fridge decals, use a different material selected for their intended application.
Vinyl has different surface, installation and care requirements. The PhotoTex adhesive information above applies to our fabric range; always check the material listed on your chosen product.
